Shadow Meditation

In this meditation you will heal negative dominant emotional states and embrace the precious gifts that lie hidden in the shadow of your psyche. You will reclaim precious qualities of being and experience a sense of wholeness and sovereignty.
MEDITATION SCRIPT
Grounding and attuning
Be either sitting with erect spine or lying down.
Relax and focus on your breath.
Breathe the Currents up and down the spine.
BREATHING IN – ENERGY FLOWS UP
BREATHING OUT – ENERGY FLOWS DOWN
Extend your focus to the core of the earth and your soul star. Anchor there.
BREATHING IN– ENERGY FLOWS UP FROM THE EARTH CORE
BREATHING OUT – ENERGY FLOWS DOWN FROM THE SOULSTAR
Centre in the Heart
Drop your attention in the belly. Breathe in and out from your belly
BREATHE IN AND UP YOUR SPINE
OPEN THE FLOWER OF YOUR HEART
RECEIVE THE DOWNSTREAM OF ENERGY
REST IN THE HEART CENTRE.
Allow a Dominant State
Observe your inner body and intend to notice a dominant state, like an emotion or a stream of thoughts. This dominant state may be triggered by an external situation. Maybe a situation that repeats itself often. Observe the situation and how are you feeling about it. Allow yourself time. What is happening, how are you feeling, how are you behaving. Maybe you please people, maybe you criticize yourself, maybe you want to control everything, maybe you push to achieve
BREATHE AND ALLOW THE NEGATIVE FEELING STATE
FEEL IT FULLY IN YOUR BODY
WHAT IS THE FEELING
ALLOW IT WITH NO JUDGEMENT
Use your breath, breath the tension out of your body
Breathe it out of your crown
Or breathe it into the earth
Or breathe it out from wherever you feel it in your body
NOW ASK YOURSELF WHO DOES THIS DOMINANT FEELING BELONG TO?
ALLOW THE SUB-PERSONALITY TO COME TO THE LIGHT
WE WILL CALL IT DOMINANT SELF
The feeling may take the form of a sub-personality, like a stressed achiever, a tearful maiden, a rejected lover or a worried mother. Observe what is happening within you, which emotion, which thinking-pattern or behavior. You want to observe it as a person inside you with a distinct personality, which dominates the scene, bringing some uncomfortable state in your body, in your emotions and in your mind.
FEEL IT FULLY, YET OBSERVE IT WITH DETACHMENT
Release the tension of the Dominant Self
Whatever the dominant state is for you, we want to release its excessive charge. Express an intention to release the feeling, the pattern, to let go of the personality and your identification with it.
BREATHE AND RELEASE THE DOMINANT TENSION
Distill the energy you need to discharge to a single emotion, like fear or grief. Go to the core of the emotion, to the essence, go deep into the essence of it
FIND THE CORE EMOTION OR THOUGHT AND RELEASE IT
FEEL THE ENERGY OF THE DOMINANT SELF LEAVE YOUR BODY
DETACH FROM THIS SELF
FEEL IT SLIPPING OUT OF YOUR BODY LIKE A DRESS
GO BACK TO YOUR CENTRE
Let go at a cellular level of the energy of the dominant self
YOU ARE NOT YOUR EMOTIONS, YOU ARE NOT THIS PERSONALITY
You are more than all of this, more expanded. You are the space holding this state
YOU ARE THE WITNESS, YOU ARE YOUR HIGHER SELF
Breathe and let go. Allow all the time you need and observe it happening
Embrace your Shadow Self
STAY CENTERED AS YOUR HIGHER SELF
Whilst releasing you may notice a sense of peace arising, an emptiness.
The release may not be complete but you notice a shift, a spaciousness, an expansion beyond the constricting energy pattern.
CENTRE YOURSELF AND CONNECT TO YOUR HIGHER SELF
ASK YOUR HIGHER SELF WHAT DO YOU NEED NOW
Look for a core need that you want to fulfill
WHICH QUALITY OF ENERGY WANTS TO EMERGE?
Usually it is the opposite of your dominant patter: If am pleasing I need more selfishness; If I am a victim I need more power; If I am an achiever I need more play; if I am too feminine I may need focus; if I am too masculine I may need flow
IMAGINE A SUB-PERSONALITY IS EMERGING FROM THE SHADOW INTO THE LIGHT
THIS SELF WHO EMBODIES THE QUALITY YOU NEED.
A warrior, a priestess, a dancer, a playful child, a love goddess. Feel her/his energy, she/he is a part of you who wants expression, who wants to be seen and listened to.
Do not force the process instead allow it. Be open to be surprised by what is coming up.
THIS SELF MAY BE HURT OR ANGRY.
ALLOW HER/HIM TO EXPRESS ANY FEELINGS AND RELEASE THE TENSION
You may want to reassure the Self that you are holding him/her, accepting him/her unconditionally and open to listening and communication. This Self needs attention and love.
OPEN TO THIS PERSONALITY SELF, EMBRACE HIM/HER AND MERGE WITH THEIR ENERGY
BREATHE AND EMBRACE THE SHADOW SELF
BREATHE AND EMBODY HIS/HER QUALITIES AND VIRTUES
Open and receive the new qualities of being of this self
Breathe and feel the energy of the new personality in your body
Balance and integration
CONNECT TO YOUR HIGHER SELF
SENSE THE PRESENCE OF YOUR WISE SELF, YOUR AWARE EGO
You have met your Shadow Self and this may be a new experience of energy for you and you are now aware of your Dominant Self. Both selves have positive qualities and are somehow polarized. You want now to be able to choose, to own both sides and use their power when needed.
ASK YOUR HIGHER SELF:
· WHAT ARE THE POSITIVE QUALITIES OF THE TWO SELVES?
· WHAT DO THEY BOTH NEED?
· HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE SHADOW SELF?
· HOW CAN I BALANCE THESE TWO STATES?
You are the Aware Self balancing the energies of the Dominant and Shadow Selves, according to the needs of the moment. You can choose to be the achiever or the relaxed one, the doer or the thinker, the poet or the warrior and so on.
Right now, however, focus a bit more on the Shadow self.
Make a commitment to honor the talents and gifts he-she is bringing to you.
Affirm your ability to integrate the Shadow Self in your everyday life, listening to this voice that wants expression and affirmation.
